Oceanic Droplets

The Oceanic Droplets are earrings that seem to have been designed by the sea, brought to the beach by a wave that somehow knew about precious metals. A more striking combination of deep blue and turquoise hues would probably require a visit to the Great Barrier Reef, where you would have to be quick to find a gold connection. The stones are lapis lazuli or its near relations, the kind of mineral that made ancient civilizations get busy with their chisels. The gold-toned metal might be only a whisper in the clamour of the stones, but it’s an essential whisper. The whole thing is in the medium range for size, which is just as well, because if it was any larger it would have to be guarded by the Navy. The patterns on the stones are so intricate that you can almost hear the sound of the jeweller’s hammer tapping away in a tiny cave. The overall effect is of an oceanic bounty gathered by a cosmopolitan traveller. It’s a good thing the stones are set in metal, because otherwise they might swim away.
